Yahoo Music Review

Great music discovery options, plenty of extras and a price that is hard to beat, makes Yahoo Music Unlimited a great choice. We loved how they made it so easy to customize your music experience, and access the music you really want.

With the recent acquisition of MusicMatch, Yahoo Music increased their song total to over 2 millions songs. It's not quite as much as a couple of the other services offer, but for 99% of music fans out there, it is more than enough.

Features

Yahoo Music Unlimited uses their Yahoo Music Jukebox 2.2 software which you can install after signing up for their service. Within the Yahoo Music Jukebox you can play and save unlimited music to your pc, organize your music with playlists and a unique feature called 'moods', as well as share your preferences with others. Aside from a couple minor bugs the software works quite well. We were actually quite surprised at how responsive it was.

One neat feature that included was the ability to listen to over 120 ad-free radio stations with cd quality sound. As you listen and rate music, it will give you personalized recommendations which we found extremely helpful. It's a very easy way to discover new music.

You can also burn any music you purchase which allows you to convert to whatever format you wish. If you want to transfer music to a compatible mp3 player, there is a Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go subscription option at a slightly higher fee. Members will also be pleased to know that if you want to purchase music, each track is only 79 cents each.

Ease of Use

Though not quite as intuitive as Rhapsody's service, Yahoo Music's interface was a pleasure to use, with very few hangups.

Support

Yahoo Music have typical email support and detailed online help FAQ's which we found very informative.

Conclusion

Yahoo Music really hits the sweet spot in pricing for their music service. We suggest that you try out their week trial, and see if it's right for you. If you like it (and we think you will), consider getting a one year's access pass, as you'll save 33% over their regular monthly price!
